The Managing Director of ANOH Gas Processing Company (AGPC), Mr. James Makinde, accompanied by members of the Executive Management Team, paid a courtesy visit to the Honorable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. (Obongemem) Ekperikpe Ekpo, in Abuja to strengthen collaboration and provide strategic updates on the company’s operations and contribution to Nigeria’s growing gas sector.

The engagement underscored AGPC’s continued commitment to supporting the Federal Government’s vision of harnessing the nation’s abundant natural gas resources to drive industrial development, enhance energy security, expand domestic gas utilization, and stimulate sustainable economic growth.

During the meeting, Mr. Makinde briefed the Honorable Minister on the successful commencement of commercial operations at the ANOH Gas Processing Plant (AGPP), one of Nigeria’s flagship midstream gas infrastructure projects. Designed to process approximately 300 million standard cubic feet of wet gas per day (300 MMscfd) from the ANOH Field in OML 53, the facility has entered commercial service and continues to record stable and reliable operational performance.

Providing an update on the plant’s progress, the Managing Director stated:

“The successful transition of the ANOH Gas Processing Plant into commercial operations marks a significant milestone not only for AGPC but also for Nigeria’s gas sector and the Federal Government’s Decade of Gas agenda. Since start-up, the facility has demonstrated stable and reliable operations and is currently processing approximately 150 MMscfd during its initial stabilization phase, with a clear pathway towards achieving its full design capacity of 300 MMscfd.”

He further explained that the plant is strategically positioned to play a transformative role in Nigeria’s energy landscape by increasing domestic gas supply, supporting industrial and commercial consumers, strengthening energy security, and creating long-term economic value for the nation.

Discussions also explored opportunities for deeper collaboration between AGPC and the Ministry in accelerating key gas development initiatives, expanding gas infrastructure, promoting domestic gas utilization, and unlocking the full potential of Nigeria’s vast gas reserves in line with the Federal Government’s aspiration of building a gas-powered economy.

In his remarks, the Honorable Minister congratulated AGPC on the successful commencement of commercial operations at the ANOH Gas Processing Plant and commended the company for the significant progress achieved in bringing the project into operation.

He particularly acknowledged the plant’s steady production ramp-up, noting that the increasing processing volumes demonstrate the project’s growing contribution to Nigeria’s gas development objectives and reinforce the country’s position as a leading gas producer.

The Minister reaffirmed that gas development remains a central pillar of the economic agenda of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasizing that the President is committed to unlocking Nigeria’s abundant gas resources to drive industrialisation, improve energy access, strengthen energy security, and promote inclusive economic prosperity.

He further stated that the Ministry of Petroleum Resources (Gas) remains fully aligned with this national vision and will continue to champion policies and initiatives that encourage investment, accelerate infrastructure development, and deepen growth across the gas value chain.

“The Federal Government is committed to creating an enabling environment for gas projects to thrive. Gas remains central to our economic transformation agenda, and the Ministry will continue to provide the necessary support required to drive growth across the sector. We are encouraged by the progress being made at the ANOH Gas Processing Plant and look forward to its continued ramp-up towards full capacity,” the Minister said.

Both parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing Nigeria’s gas sector through strategic partnerships, operational excellence, and sustained investment in infrastructure that expands energy access, supports industrialisation, creates employment opportunities, and delivers lasting socio-economic benefits for Nigerians.

The visit concluded on a positive note, with AGPC and the Ministry reaffirming their commitment to continued collaboration in advancing Nigeria’s gas aspirations and supporting the nation’s broader energy transition objectives. As the ANOH Gas Processing Plant continues its planned operational ramp-up, AGPC remains firmly positioned as a key enabler of Nigeria’s ambition to build a resilient, gas-powered economy and unlock the full value of its abundant natural gas resources for future generations.
