Biography

James Makinde is an industry professional with expertise in commercial deal delivery and project management. He has worked in roles that included project management, asset management, gas market development, gas commercialization, gas to power solution development, renewables energy, investment and portfolio management, and strategy development.

Until his appointment as Managing Director, ANOH Gas Processing Company (AGPC), he was the General Manager, Gas Business for Seplat Energy Plc.

James joined SEPLAT with over 25 years’ experience in the Oil and Gas industry, spent in different parts of Shell Companies in Nigeria. He was at different times the Business Development and Commercial Manager for Shell Nigeria Gas Limited; Commercial Lead, Domestic Gas Development, Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), Project Control Manager, Deepwater Projects, SNEPCO. His last role in Shell was as the West Africa Business Development Manager, Shell New Energies (now called Emerging Market Power), where he was part of the team that drove Shell’s investment in renewable and power businesses in Africa.

He is a respected voice in the industry and a keen contributor to Nigeria gas sector. He was the Chairman of the Oil Producers Trade Sector (OPTS) Gas Sub-committee as well as a Non-Executive Director of the Gas Aggregator Company of Nigeria (GACN).

He holds an MBA degree from Alliance-Manchester Business School, University of Manchester, UK, and an MSc degree in Offshore and Ocean Technology, Subsea Pipelines Engineering Specialization, from Cranfield University, UK. He also holds the Project Management Professional (PMP®) Credential.
